Inside the Recruitment: '15 C Daniel Mitri (NCDL) commits to Sinclair

Daniel Mitri, C, NCDL, Class of 2015

PBR: Why did you choose Sinclair?

Mitri: Sinclair seemed like a perfect fit for me. From my first phone call with Coach Dintaman I knew that I wanted to play for him. I feel that Sinclair will help me grow as a ball player and help out a lot with my academics and put me down the path to a four year college.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Mitri: I was considering Walsh University, St. Bonaventure, Herkimer County CC, and just recently have gotten some interest from EMU.

PBR: Sinclair is known for sending many of their players to 4 year colleges.  How much of a role did that play in your decision to go to Sinclair?

Mitri: This was one of the main reasons that I've committed to Sinclair. Coach really seems like he has a plan from day one to help his players succeed on the field and in the classroom. I trust that he'll put me down the right path to fulfill my dream of playing Division 1 baseball someday.

PBR: Where did the Coach Dintaman first see you?

Mitri: I started off sending Coach my videos about a year or so ago. He was a little uncertain about me at first. As I saw my game improve I kept on contacting him and sending my videos. Then I recently attended a PBR showcase and showed well and coach invited me down for a visit. The next day I got a call from him and we made it official.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable moment.

Mitri: I play for the Brownlee Lookouts. My favorite part of this summer was just seeing myself grow as a player. My game has greatly improved and I truly owe it all to the encouragement and coaching of Paul Brownlee, Craig Opalich, and Ben Simon.

PBR:  What were you stats last spring?

Mitri: To be completely honest my time was limited last year. I had 2 very good senior catchers ahead of me, but when I got the call I made the most of my play time.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Mitri: The toughest pitcher that I have faced is a mix up between Clyde Yoder and Ryan Falls. They're both my teammates so I catch them often, but when I step in the box against them they always find a way to sit me down.
