Ford Schroeder, MIF, Minnehaha Academy, Class of 2015

PBR:  Why did you choose Augustana College in South Dakota?
SCHROEDER: I chose Augustana because of the facilities, coaching staff and academic rigor. I was really impressed by Coach Huber. He's a great coach and really expressed his interest in me as a player.

PBR:  What other schools were you considering?
SCHROEDER: I was also considering Iowa Central CC and Youngstown State.

PBR:  Where did they first see you? How did your relationship develop with the coaching staff?
SCHROEDER: They first saw me at Showtime Sports showcase in Burnsville, MN and then in the Gopher Classic tournament. We started talking in mid-July and continued to develop from there.

PBR: What role do you expect to play your first year on campus?
SCHROEDER: My role as a freshman at Augie is to step in and compete for a starting position like everyone else.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
SCHROEDER: There are a few, my parents have been great supporters, they haven't missed a game which is awesome. Steve McGuiggan, Tom Buske, Nate Stemper and Roger Ross have developed me into the player I am today. MashNation never sleeps!! Lastly The Pryor's, Manion's and Webster's have been by my side through thick and thin which has been an absolute blessing.

PBR: What have you worked on/improved since last year?
SCHROEDER: It's all about making those key adjustments in the field and at the plate. I have also worked on the mental and strength side of the game as well.

PBR: Who is the toughest player that you have faced in Minnesota?
SCHROEDER: I would have to say, although I only faced him 2 times, would be former Redhawk pitcher John Pryor. Notable gamers would be Cole McDevitt, Angelo Altavilla and Matt Fiedler.

PBR:  What are your thoughts on the recruiting process? Any advice for future players in your position.
SCHROEDER: Just have fun play hard!
