The 2024 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

TEAM OUTLOOK

After a rebuilding year in 2023, the Millsap Bulldogs and Coach Paul Vaughan look to take the next step as a program in 2024. The Bulldogs return six players who put up All-District performances last season and a more experienced roster overall.

Three seniors return for Millsap after earning All-District honors in 2023 in P/1B Belden Cox (uncommitted - 2nd Team), INF Jace Riggs (uncommitted - 1st Team), and UTL Kai Hanog (uncommitted - Honorable Mention). Also returning from Millsap’s senior class is RHP/CIF Riley Goen (uncommitted). These four should give the Bulldogs a strong nucleus to build around for this season.

In the junior class, there are also three players who return after having All-District seasons a year ago. These three juniors are RHP/INF Reid Green (uncommitted - Honorable Mention), OF CR Tippie (uncommitted - 2nd Team), and P/OF Brandon Savage (uncommitted - Honorable Mention). Also returning in 2024 after playing as a freshman last season is C/RHP Brogan Sims (2026). Some newcomers to watch as the 2024 season unfolds are Carson Crouch and Cameron Carraza (2027).

With the talented and experienced roster the Bulldogs bring back in 2024, look for Millsap to take that next step as a program as they try to get into the 3A postseason this season.
