We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 30 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Palo Duro Dons and Coach Tyson Wormsbaker look to make another postseason trip in 2024 after finishing as 5A Bi-District Finalists in 2023. Returning four key upperclassmen this season will leave the door open for young players within the program to make an impact on the varsity squad. The Dons believe having the youth step up will be a strength in 2024 alongside the overall speed of the roster.

The Dons will look to be led by a trio of uncommitted seniors who were key contributors last season in 1B/LHP Lorenzo Castellanos, UTL Jacob Jimenez, and UTL Ruben Arzola. The other key returners for the Dons this season will be junior OF Charlie Love (uncommitted) and sophomore UTL Jabrelyn Wilson, who made an instant impact last season as a freshman. Speaking of freshman, look for UTL Bryce Lomeli to potentially fill the role of an instant impact freshman in 2024 for Palo Duro.

With their team speed and youthful roster, the Palo Duro Dons should make for an interesting team to monitor in 2024.
