By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

The 2017 All-State Game is Tuesday, May 23rd 2017, hosted at Lamar Porter Field, in down town Little Rock, AR.  This game will feature the elite players from all corners of the state of Arkansas. The Game will be a 10 innings game matching up the Top 20 2017 grads vs the Top 20 Underclassman. First pitch is 6:00 PM.  We will highlight players from each roster over the next month, so all attending the game should be familiar with each roster.

Team 2017

Bryson Haskins 2B / OF / Ashdown, AR / 2017

Haskins is a 6-foot 170-pound infielder/outfielder with an athletic frame and a physical build. His premium tool is his run tool. He runs a 6.53 in the 60 and has ran 3.97 Home to first. Defensively he plays through the baseball with fluid footwork. He throws from a L ¾ arm slot with average arm strength. Offensively he attacks the baseball with a line drive swing with rotation. He has shown a knack for getting on base using his athleticism. Overall an advanced athlete with a rawness to his game. He is committed to Henderson State University and will be intriguing to watch as he moves through his collegiate career.

Team Underclass

Brandon Ulmer OF / RHP / Booneville, AR / 2019

Ulmer is a 5-foot-9 160-pound outfielder with a slight frame and an athletic build. Offensively he starts from an athletic stance, he uses a minimum load and stride. He uses a line drive swing, and works primarily to the pull side. He manipulates the barrel well enough to keep it in the hit zone for an extended period of time. He stays balanced through extension and gets down the line well running a 4.09 home to first. Defensively, he works through the baseball with fluid footwork. He throws the ball accurately using H ¾ arm slot and a loose arm. He throws the ball 84 mph from the outfield. Overall Ulmer is a premium athlete with a feel for the game, time will tell as he physically matures on his ceiling.
