Nathan Verst, RHP/SS, Bishop Brossart HS, 2014

Nathan Verst is a 5-foot-11, 165-pound RHP/SS that showed well at the Unsigned Senior Games Event at Northern Kentucky University in August.

On the mound, Verst worked through a high ¾ arm slot with a quick arm and showed a fastball that sat 82-84 mph, touching 85 with some arm-side run on his two-seamer.  His curveball is solid at 70-72 mph with sharp 11/5 action, and he throws his changeup with good arm action at 74-75 mph with some fade.

As a shortstop, Verst showed good arm strength across the field at 84 mph with good lateral movement.  He made several nice plays in game action including a diving stop in the hole (got up and threw runner out) and a bare-hand play on a slow roller.  Verst showed some bat speed with an 86 mph exit velocity off the tee.

Verst has big game experience, pitching Bishop Brossart to a 10^th Region title as a sophomore in 2012, and then followed that up with a complete-game victory in the state quarterfinals.
