Scouting Report

Sawyer is a 5’8” 130 pound two way prospect from the Hudson Valley region. As a position player, the lefty is a fluid and athletic mover, showing good speed for his age with a 7.44 second 60 yard dash. He has a strong and accurate arm from the outfield, showcasing throws that topped out at 72 MPH. As a hitter, he has a short and level swing. Does a good job of being direct to the ball and then extending through contact, producing multiple line drives in his BP round. Registered an exit velocity of 73 MPH. On the mound, the athleticism continues to show as Sawyer repeats his delivery with easy on his three pitch mix. His arm works quick with no wasted movement. His fastball was in the 71-74 MPH range with some life in the hitting zone. His breaking ball was 62-65 MPH with a small but late, tight break. Also showed good feel and promise for his changeup at 64-65 MPH that had arm side fade. Threw all of his pitches for strikes in this setting.


Thoughts on the future

"Sawyer is a very skilled player whose true ceiling will depend on how he continues to grow and mature physically. Does a very good job at the things he can control like pitching mechanics, arm accuracy, and swing plane. It is evident that he puts a lot of time into improving as a prospect. Will be a fun follow throughout the years as someone who might not overwhelm you with size and tools, but is a really good all-around baseball player."
