NE Insider: The Recruiting Angle with Ethan Dyer

This time of year seems to be a very nerve racking time for unsigned seniors and underclassmen looking to get on coaches radar. No need to panic, it's early in the spring and once it warms up, the coaches will be out to see your game. Relaxing and enjoying the spring season is important, so keep in mind, control the controllable things and work on your game.

Another big and long right-handed arm is today’s focus. As I write, I am watching Tim Cooney make his big league debut for the Cardinals. He pitched at Wake Forest for me and has ran up through the minor leagues. Watching him pitch gives me butterflies, as I can only imagine what it's like to live your lifelong dream.

The following weekly article will be a feature on a player who has yet to break onto the scene, but certainly has the ability to play and/or pitch at the college level.

Today we are going to take a look at Ethan Dyer, a 2016 right-handed pitcher from Masconomet Regional, Massachusetts.

Scouting Report

6-foot-3, 195-pounds with long arms and leverage give this young man a chance to blossom as he matures. Pitches in the mid 80s right now and spins his breaking ball in the low 70s. Pitches from an easy leg lift with a ¾ arm swing. The delivery is repeatable as well. Eventually, should be an upper 80s guy.
