Now close to the midway point of the 2024 high school season, we're compiling all reports up to this point of the spring and splitting up the 2024 and 2025 classes based on position. Starting off today and continuing throughout the week, we take a look at all uncommitted 2024 pitchers who have been featured in scout blogs in the first six weeks of the season.

+ RHP John Henry Winstead (Spanish Fort, 2024) may not be back to full-strength just yet after dealing with an injury over the last couple of months, but showed argaubly some of the best stuff on the mound from the weekend and looked to be in mid-season form while only a pitch count. Listed at 6-foot-0, 165-pounds, the uncommitted senior's track record speaks for itself, as he turned into the top pitcher on the staff last spring that helped lead the Toros to a runner-up finish in Class 6A. Getting the start against an offensive lineup with numerous Division 1 commitments, Winstead was extremely efficient while tossing just 29 pitches. In command from the jump, the senior operated 85-87 mph with tailing action and above-average command, showing the ability to mix in and out. The right-hander's slider was arguably his best pitch, sitting a firm 80-81 mph (2450 PM) with tight, late break and tunnel, while his changeup induced some uncomfortable swings in the low-80's with killed spin and dive, as well. He possesses one of the better combinations of secondary pitches that our staff has seen this spring, and should be a hot commodity for college recruiters who are looking to add to their 2024 class. He finished going 2.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, & 5 K's on 29 pitches, 22 for strikes.
