Mississippi Diamond Notes: Week 7
April 3, 2024
The Mississippi Diamond Notes is back for 2024 and will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight those positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Wednesday of the high school season that are deserving to be highlighted based on their performance.
Thanks to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.
For now, let's take a look at those players from across the state highlighted in this week's Mississippi Diamond Notes.

MISSISSIPPI DIAMOND NOTES: WEEK 7

Peyton Puckett OF / 3B / Jackson Prep, MS / 2024Rankings StateRank: 55 / POS: 11
The uncommitted senior continued building on his outstanding year going 7 for 11 last week with a home run and 8 runs batted in. On the year Puckett is hitting .457 with 4 home runs with 33 RBI's. |

Landon Harmon RHP / OF / East Union Attendance Center, MS / 2025The Mississippi State recruit threw a 7 inning shut out over Hamilton, allowing 2 hits, while striking out 9. On the season Harmon is 3-1 with a 1.24 ERA including 45 strikeouts in just 28 1/3 innings. |

Cayler Havard 3B / George County, MS / 2026Havard had a solid week for the #18 ranked Rebels at the plate, picking up 5 hits in 9 at bats with a double, triple, and 4 runs batted in. Havard is hitting .320 with 14 RBI's on the season. |

Walker Hooks LHP / 1B / Brandon High School, MS / 2024The big Ole Miss recruit tossed 7 solid innings versus Petal, allowing 3 hits, no earned runs, while adding 12 strikeouts. Hooks is 4-2 with a 2.33 ERA on the season with 49 strikeouts in 30 innings. |

Logan Fontenelle SS / RHP / Biloxi High School, MS / 2024Rankings StateRank: 46 / POS: 8
Fontenelle threw a complete game shut out last week over #4 ranked Gulfport, scattering 5 hits over 7 innings with 9 strikeouts. The Pear River CC recruit improved to 41 on the year with a 1.59 ERA and 46 total K's. |

Jude Westmoreland LHP / 1B / Grenada, MS / 2024Westmoreland was strong in his outing last week, throwing 6 2/3 innings, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits, with 10 strikeouts versus Lake Cormorant. The Hinds CC recruit is 4-3 on the season with 51 strikeouts in 33 1/3 innings. |

Preston McAdory RHP / OF / George County, MS / 2025Rankings StateRank: 21 / POS: 6
The former Future Games participant threw 4 scoreless frames last week allowing just one hit with 10 punch outs. On the season McAdory is 2-0 with a 1.47 ERA including 39 strikeouts in just 19 innings.

Trenton Bond 2B / Harrison Central, MS / 2024The speedy lead off hitter went 6 for 14 last week for the Red Rebels including 4 doubles, 3 runs batted in, 2 stolen bases, and 5 runs scored. |

Gage Reeves / George County, MS / 2024The Jones College recruit was big for the Rebels last week picking up 8 hits in 11 at bats including a home run, a double, and 4 runs batted in. Reeves is now hitting .431 on the season with 4 home runs and 20 RBI's. |

Alex Wade 1B / George County , MS / 2024The senior was on base quite often for the Rebels as he picked up 6 hits in 9 at bats while adding an rbi. Wade is hitting .415 on the spring, good for second on the team at the moment. |
