DIAMOND NOTES | WEEK 5

Jensen Albers OF / LHP / Gretna east, NE / 2026

In a 2-1 victory over Millard North on Friday, 19 April, Jensen Albers lead the Griffins and earned the win as the starting pitcher. He surrendered six hits and one-run over six and two-thirds innings, striking out six.

 

 

Jackson Myers / NA, NE / 2024

Jackson Myers threw a 5 inning Perfect Game on 4/19 game (14-0 win) against Northwest. He had 10 strikeouts & only threw 54 pitches. 

 

 

Cooper Culhane SS / Pius X, NE / 2024

Cooper Culhane pitched a 7 inning complete game on 4/18 securing the win against #2 Millard West. Cooper gave up 2 runs, 1 earned, while striking out 3. 

 

 

Hudson Waldow 3B / 2B / Norfolk , NE / 2024

0.714 (5-7), 3 R, 1 RBI, 2 SB against Papio, Omaha South and Kearney

On the mound he went 6.0, 3 R, 4 K against Kearney.

 

 

Tanner Apgar 1B / RHP / Papillion LaVista , NE / 2024

Complete game, two-hitter versus Gretna.

 

Michael Meckna RHP / OF / Elkhorn South, NE / 2024

The 2022 Futures Game alum had three hits including a triple and a home run against Papio South.

 

 

Omar Ramirez RHP / Omaha Bryan, NE / 2024

Ramirez went 7-for-12 at the plate and threw 10.2 innings, allowing just two earned runs, and earning a win.

 

 

Colton Homolka OF / RHP / Norris , NE / 2024

Homolka had a five inning no-hitter against Waverly, striking out six with no walks and no runs allowed.

 

 

Cohen Nelson LHP / OF / Grand Island , NE / 2024

Nelson struck out 10 in five innings this past week.

 

 

Paul Shortridge LHP / OF / Lincoln East, NE / 2024

Shortridge went 2-0 this past week with a 5 innings, 4 strikeout win over Papio and a five inning shutout against Lincoln Southwest. So far this spring, the left-hander is 7-0 with a 1.20 ERA.

 

 

Colin Nowaczyk LHP / OF / Elkhorn North , NE / 2024

Last week's Pitcher of the Week was back at it again for Elkhorn North, this time doing the work with his bat. He was 10-for-13 with three doubles and triple, scoring eight runs and swiping three bags. He also tossed 10 scoreless innings while striking out 11. 

 

 

Brenden Ruth OF / 2B / Seward, NE / 2026

Ruth posted a .667 average, drew three walks, and scored three runs for Seward. 

 

 

Zach Schawang 2B / Waverly , NE / 2024

BA-.571, OBP-.700, OPS-1.557, SLG-.857, 3 2B, 5 RBI

 

 

Austin Copeland / Gretna East, NE / 2024

Austin Copeland earned the win for the Griffins on Saturday, 20 April in a close 2-1 victory against Omaha North. Austin surrendered two hits and one run (zero earned) over eight innings, striking out six.

Kai Vanis SS / OF / Lincoln Pius X, NE / 2026

During this week Kai Vanis went 6-for-13 (.461) with a home run, triple, and 5 RBI’s. His big week helped secure a tournament win for our team at the Papio-South Invite. We secured wins against Millard West, Papio-South, and Papillion LaVista. Kai was our biggest offensive contributor. 

 

 

CJ Hoffman SS / 2B / Norfolk, NE / 2024

5.0 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 4 K in a win against Papio.

 

 

Jordan Monroe UTILITY / 3B / Norris, NE / 2025

14 PA 13 AB 6 Hits .462 AVG. 1 2B 1 HR 6 RBI 3 Runs 1 SB

 

 

Brennan Miller RHP / SS / Waverly, NE / 2025

2 Wins, 12 IP, 6 Hits allowed, 0 ER, 3 BB, 17 Ks, WHIP- .750

 

 

+ Skutt Catholic Pitching Staff (Jace Ziola, John Schulte, and Sam Brummund)

The trio threw a combined no-hitter vs Gretna East.

+ Carter Ramaekers | Norfolk

Hit .429 (3-7) with a double, two runs scored and two RBI against Papio, Omaha South, and Kearney. Threw an scoreless inning while collecting a save against Papio, tying him for the school record of career saves. Defensively, he threw out the would-be game-tying run at the plate from left field in the sixth inning against Papio.
