As we prepare for the upcoming 2024 High School season, we will be taking a look the top 5 teams for Class C heading into the spring.

 MALCOLM

Defending Class C Champs tops the preseason poll for 2024. While losing a good amount of production from last year's team, they will get three of their most talented and productive two-way players back: '24 RHP/INF Madox Meyer (UNO), 2.19 ERA, 44.2 IP, 59 ks to just 15 BB and hit .344 with 11XBH and 26 RBIs, will no doubt lead the pitching staff while mixing it up in the box; '25 3B/RHP Mason Wisnieski, .556, 14 XBH and 34 RBIs and he ate up 28.2 innings with a 2.20 ERA, 32 Ks, 12 BB on the mound, is a force to deal with at the plate with excellent barrel control and will probably be the toughest out in Class C; '25 INF/RHP Carson Frank, .393 with three doubles / 4-1, 34 IP, 36 ks, will add great depth and experience for Coach Wehner on their quest to repeat.

 OMAHA RONCELLI

The Crimson Pride will have to replace four of their top bats and two of their top arms from last year's State Runner-up team. Strong junior and sophomore classes should make the transition smoother than usual. '24 RHP Patrick Truscott (Simpson) should slide into the number one role on the staff. In 2023 he had a 1.25 ERA, 8 app, 22.1 IP, 26 ks and a .13 BAA. With fellow seniors RHP Noah Brisbin and RHP Charlie Fehringer combined for 36.1 IP and 55 ks, it will give Roncalli a lot of depth on the mound. Brothers '24 UTIL Clay Shafer, .324 and 10 XBH, and '26 3B/1B Caden Shafer, .235 with 13 RBIs, will lead the attack offensively that will need some guys to take a step forward to replace those four productive seniors.

 DC WEST

The 2024 class for the Falcons will lead the way this season. Six of their top returning hitters and three top arms will all be seniors. '24 RHP/C/SS Wil Reeves will lead the way on the mound, 41IP, 45 ks, 23 BB / .279, while '24 LHP/1B/OF Michael Croom will add depth and experience on the mound, 28.1 IP, 26 ks, .217 BAA, and provide much need pop to the lineup, .256, 7 XBH, 14 RBIs. The sum of the parts is greater than the individual for this team. Look for the Senior leadership of this DC West team to stand out towards the end of the season and be very difficult to knock of

 ADAMS CENTRAL

First-year skipper Tim Stroman will return six starting position players that should be the strength on this team. 24 SS/RHP Nick Conant will carry the torch offensively, and fellow seniors OF Jayden Teichmeier and UTL/P Lucas Gabriel will add additional experience in the box and on the mound. Coach Stroman believes this group has a good, hardworking offseason and is hungry and ready to prove something in 2024.

  PLATTEVIEW

The 2024 season will see a lot of returners to the lineup and the pitching staff for the Trojans. Six of the top nine hitters back, with five of those being seniors, should give Platteview one of the more experienced lineups in Class C. Five of their top six arms return, including the top statistical leaders: '25 LHP Bryson Banks, 57.2 IP, 2.67 ERA, 50 ks, 18 BB, and '24 RHP Ethan Loffer, 52.2 IP, 2.26 ERA, 53 ks over 11 appearances. They should give the Trojans a 1-2 punch to match up with anyone.
