Blaise Ostertag, OF/RHP, Conner HS, 2015ostertag

Ostertag is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound OF/RHP who showed two-way ability at the Unsigned Senior Games event at Northern Kentucky University in August.

The right-handed hitter posted a 4.75 home to first base time with 83 mph tee exit velocity.  He hits from a balanced stance with a leg kick and medium stride.  He has a shorter swing path with extension through contact and showed the ability to hit line drives to all fields.  Ostertag went 1-for-4 in game play with a single to left field.

Defensively, though he showed inconsistent accuracy on throws to the third base bag, Ostertag showed the best outfield arm strength of the event at 88 mph while playing through the baseball with athletic actions.

On the mound, Ostertag uses long arm action through a ¾ to high-3/4 arm slot.  His arm shows some quickness, and his fastball sat 82-84 mph from the windup with some late arm-side life.  He tended to have a slight loss in velocity from the stretch at 80-81 mph.  His curveball sat 70-72 mph with tight spin and sharp 11/5 action, and he showed a 71 mph changeup thrown with good arm action.  He allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out two in his two innings of work.

Ostertag proved to be an interesting two-way prospect who could fill multiple roles at the next level.
