Commitment Q&A: 2024 Thomas Bonaventure

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

2024 C Thomas Bonaventure officially announced his commitment to Loyola University New Orleans on November 2, 2023.  The Parkview Baptist product has been a familiar face at our events and on the circuit, and all of his hard work and dedication definitely paid off.  Below, we took some time to discuss his recent commitment to the Wolf Pack, as well as his upcoming senior season.

1. Congratulations on your commitment to Loyola-New Orleans!  What factors led to your decision to commit to the Wolf Pack?

"The thing that stuck out the most to me is the character of the coaches.  I felt like they really cared about me and will be willing to help any of their players, even outside of baseball."

2. When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you?  Where did the school you committed to first see you play?

"The recruiting process started heating up the spring season of my junior year, and got really hot this fall.  The first time that Loyola saw me was at the PBR State Games at LSU."

3. What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get to where you are?

"To never think you deserve it.  There are kids all over the world that don't get the same opportunity that players and kids get so make the most of it.  Have no regrets.  Also, be able to handle and accept failure.  You're going to fail and stuff is going to happen that's not in your favor.  It's all about how you respond and handle it.  Take the weight room seriously too.  It's a really big part in today's game and can put you a step ahead of people."

4. What is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point?

"Cooperstown or hitting a RBI double off the wall at LSU, off my best friend Camden Sunstrom, in a district championship game.  I will 100% never forget how crazy the atmosphere was for that game."

5. What can high school baseball fans expect out of Parkview Baptist this year?

"For the 2024 season, we at Parkview Baptist have high goals in mind and we are all willing to do whatever it takes to win a state championship. There's been 10 state titles in our program's history and it's been 10 years since we've won a state title, and that is too long.  The group we have is a very special group, and everyone is on the same page and works really hard.  On top of that, we are loaded with talent.  In my opinion, I would put our pitching staff up against anyone in the state because of how deep we are on the mound."
