For the first time the state of Kansas will have a team participating in the Prep Baseball Report Futures Games powered by Under Armour this summer (July 31-August 2, 2014).

This one-of-a-kind event will feature top uncommitted class of 2016 and 2017 prospects from the PBR network of states participating – Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Wisconsin.  In addition, some of the top underclass prospects from the newest PBR states of Colorado, Florida, New York and Virginia will be included.

Each state will have a team or combine to create a team to ensure the highest talent-level possible.  With the recent trend to recruit underclassmen this event has become a near requirement for major college programs.  Last summer 110 college coaches attended the Futures Games including ones from all of the college baseball power conferences: ACC, Big 10, Big 12, Pac-12 and SEC.

Being that the event is loaded with top prospects and also for uncommitted players only, it has become a favorite of college recruiters as they can evaluate knowing that every player is still available – making attending it an efficient use of their time.

Invitations to play for Team Kansas will be spread out over the next several months and a final roster will not be available until July.  It’s likely that players invited to participate will commit to a college prior to the event opening up spot(s) which makes publicizing the roster before July not possible.

The last few summers there has been a late push by college coaches prior to the Futures Games to get verbal commitments from the players scheduled to attend which could lead to even more juggling of the roster in late July.

Although the Team Kansas roster will be predominantly Class of 2016 and 2017 Kansas high school prospects it could also include players from some of the new PBR states (Colorado, Florida, New York and Virginia) that will not be fielding a team in their first year.

Every player in the Prep Baseball Report Future Games will be outfitted in an Under Armour uniform, cleats and game hat.  The event has a minimal registration fee of $50.
