Alabama Diamond Notes: Week 6


Prep Baseball Alabama Staff

The Alabama Diamond Notes will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Wednesday of the high school season that had impressive weeks during their team's games. Special thank you to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week. These stats are for games played between March 25th-30th.

Let's check out some of the top performances from Week 6 of the 2024 high school season.

 

Francisco Ramirez SS / 2B / James Clemens, AL / 2024

The Marion Miltary recruit was 7-12 (.583) last week as the Jets improved to 21-8. Ramirez had a double and drove in four runs while scoring five more runs. He walked twice, stole two bases and finished the week with a .667 OBP. 

Xaye Lemon 2B / Jacksonville High School, AL / 2025

An uncommitted junior, Lemon was 7-8 (.875) with a double and seven runs driven in for the Golden Eagles. He also scored five runs and stole three bases.

Bradyn Bennett 3B / RHP / Boaz, AL / 2026

The uncommitted sophomore was 9-19 (.474) last week for the 5A No. 7 Pirates. He had four doubles and drove in seven runs. On the mound, he was 1-0 with a complete-game win where he allowed one hit and one walk while striking out ten. 

Mac Anderson RHP / OF / Gulf Shores , AL / 2024

Anderson, a Houston recruit, was 4-10 (.400) last week for the 5A No. 1 Dolphins. He had a triple and four runs driven in. He also scored scored three runs and walked three times as well to finish the week with a .529 OBP. 

John Luke Stephens RHP / SS / Gulf Shores High School, AL / 2026

The uncommitted sophomore was 5-10 (.500) with two doubles and two runs driven in. He scored three runs and was hit-by-pitch once. Stephens also stole two bases during the week. 

Jack Elliott SS / 2B / Athens , AL / 2024

Elliott, an uncommitted senior, was 4-10 (.400) last week with two doubles and four runs driven in. He walked three times, scored six runs and had three stolen bases. 

Miles Edwards RHP / SS / Lauderdale County, AL / 2024

Edwards, a Wallace-Hanceville recruit, was 13-19 (.684) for the 3A No. 4 Tigers. He had three doubles and one triple while driving in ten runs. He scored five runs and stole three bases.  

Micah Christensen OF / 3B / Lauderdale County, AL / 2024

The uncommitted senior was 7-17 (.412) last week with a double and two runs driven in. Christenson also scored seven runs and had a stolen base. 

Neyland Baker 1B / RHP / Russellville, AL / 2025

Baker was 8-16 (.500) last week for the 5A No. 6 Golden Tigers with some huge power numbers. He had four doubles and two homeruns, one being a grand slam. He drove in 12 runs and also walked four times. 

Lane Edwards RHP / Arab High School, AL / 2024

An uncommitted junior, Edwards was 1-0 on the mound as he tossed six innings of four-hit baseball. He did not allow a run and did not walk anyone. He ran his scoreless inning streak to 16 and has not walked a batter in 20 innings. 

Jack Shaw RHP / OF / Bob Jones High School, AL / 2025

Shaw, an uncommitted junior, was 1-0 last week for the 7A No. 2 Patriots. In a complete-game win (7 IP), he allowed only one earned run on two hits. He struck out seven and opposing hitters only hit .091 against him. 

Braden Booth 3B / RHP / Bob Jones , AL / 2024

Booth, a Mississippi State recruit, has seen his name on the list multiple times as both a hitter and pitcher. This week he appears as a pitcher as he was 1-0 last week with six innings pitched. He allowed one earned run on five hits. He did not walk a batter while striking out 10. 

Tyler Pierce SS / RHP / Boaz, AL / 2025

The uncommitted junior continues to lead the way for the 5A No. 7 Pirates. Last week he was 1-0 with a complete-game win (7 IP). He allowed four hits and two runs while walking only two. He struck out 14 opposing hitters. 

Landon Cherry C / RHP / Moody, AL / 2025

Cherry, an uncommitted junior, was 1-0 on the mound with a complete-game win. He tossed seven scoreless innings and only allowed one hit. He walked one and struck out six. 

Brady Dodd LHP / Moody High School, AL / 2024

Dodd, an uncommitted senior, was 1-0 last week for the Blue Devils as he tossed a complete-game gem, scattering three hits and not allowing an earned run. He struck out four opposing hitters.
