Q&A with Unsigned Senior Jake Tarbell, C/RHP, Chippewa Hills, 2013

Jake has flown under-the-radar but is a solid college prospect.  He is 83-84 mph off the mound and consistenly threw sub 2.0 pop times in our showcase.  A good competitor and an athlete, there is no doubt he can help a school at the next level.

We caught up with Jake and where he is in the recruiting process.


PBR: Where are you currently in the recruiting process?

Tarbell: I am currently working on being noticed and getting my name out there

 

PBR: What level of baseball do you see yourself playing at the next level?

Tarbell: As of right now I see myself at either the D2 or Junior college level but I am always striving for more.

 

PBR: What schools are you most interested in right now, and why?

Tarbell: I am looking mainly at MI junior colleges or GLIAC but would be willing to travel.

 

PBR: What aspect of your game do you believe needs the most improvement?

Tarbell: I believe my speed and offensive consistency need improvement.

 

PBR: As a player what is your greatest strength?

Tarbell: As a player I feel my greatest strength is either my catching ability and pop time or my overall pitching. 

 

PBR: What are your high school team goals for the 2013 season?

Tarbell: A few team goals for the 2013 season are continue our conference championship streak and return to the quarterfinals, if not beyond. 

 

PBR: How did your 2012 high school and summer seasons go?

Tarbell: My 2012 high school team advanced to the quarterfinal game. We also won our 5th straight conference title and 2nd straight district title. I played witht the Central Michigan Stars for the 2012 summer who advanced to the world series in California and finished 5th in the world.

 

PBR: What were your stats in 2012?

Tarbell: As a pitcher i had a record of 14-2 with a 1.35 ERA. I threw a total of 93 innings with 151 strikeouts and 35 walks. At the lead off postion i had an average of .362 with 30 RBI's.

 

PBR: What is your GPA? ACT or SAT score?

Tarbell: My GPA is 3.75 and my ACT composite score was 24.

 

PBR: Have you decided on a major or narrowed it down?

Tarbell: I am undecided on my choice of major for now but have many interests that i look to pursue.
