Are you allowed to talk to college coaches during the summer when you see them at tournaments

PBR: Coaches are not allowed to speak with you at tournaments until your team has been eliminated from the tournament.

Best overall way to stand out to a coach?

PBR: There are numerous ways to stand out to a coach, like:

  • Be a good teammate.
  • Sprint on and off the field.
  • Be coachable.
  • Respect your opponents and umpires.
  • Handle success in an appropriate way.
  • Handle failure in an appropriate way.
  • Play as hard as you can at all times.
  • Show that you enjoy playing the game.
  • Wear your hat and uniform in a proper manner.

Will only playing only two years of varsity baseball affect the way coaches look at you?

PBR: What will affect you is your skill as a player. Some players mature later in high school then others, being on the varsity for two or four years will not factor in to your recruitment.

What's the best way to get my name out to coaches?

PBR: Be proactive with your process and contact schools you have interest in. Be realistic with the level you can play at, speak with your high school and summer coach and ask them to be honest with you on what level (DI,DII,DII,JUCO,NAIA of play you should focus on. Contact colleges via email with stats, GPA, ACT scores. Have your high school and summer coaches contact schools to. Attend winter camps of schools you have interest in. You have plenty of time to find the right school!

Will getting into a fight affect the way colleges look at me? Even if it was to protect a kid who couldn't protect himself?

PBR: Yes it will affect you, but if you are upfront with what happened and do not try to hide it from schools most will be fine. Some schools will stop your recruitment just based on their recruitment style.

What RHP from the class of 2017 are excelling above expectations that are attending the showcase of the 19th of January?

PBR: Gerhig Anglin is the most proven arm signed up at this point. He was starting pitcher for Liggett in the state finals and had a 11-2 record last season.

What do you think about the Hall of Fame announcement today?

PBR: John Smoltz is a Michigan native and graduate of Waverly High School. That is awesome for our state.

What are ways you could lose your scholarship once in college?

PBR: The two ways to lose your scholarship are to fail classes, making you are ineligible. The second way to lose your scholarship is to get in trouble off the field in legal matter (arrested).

Best way to go about informing schools of an injury?

PBR: The best way to address injuries during the recruiting process is to be honest with your injuries. Pitchers are always to going to have some soreness in their arms, that is not considered an injury that you need to bring up. If you get shut down on the mound because of an injury then you need to be upfront with the coaches.

What is the best event to attend in the next two months?

PBR: To pinpoint an event would be hard. Our Pre-Season All-State event always has high number of players attending. All five of our events have solid amount of talent signed up at this point.
