Ventura, Calif. - As the entirety of the of the California High School sections are fully underway including the Northern sections all playing games Prep Baseball California will be highlighting a weekly game of the week.

This weeks match up from NorCal Central Section Game of the Week features an pair of 1 vs 2 league matchups. First in the Mount Hamilton league the first place Leigh Longhorns will matchup with the Leland Chargers (who sit in a second place tie). While in the PCAL-Gabilan the top two teams in the Carmel Padres will take on the St. Francis Sharks each other in an important matchup this week.

Game Preview:  Both programs enter the matchup featuring a balanced approach with strong offensive production and stellar pitching staffs. For Leland their lineup features 7 regulars who are hitting over .300 while 2 of those are over .400 with '25 Hernandez leading the way at .493 including 6 doubles, 2 triples and 1 HR while driving in 16 runs and scoring 22. '24 Poole is close behind at .460 with 4 doubles, 3 triples, 1 HR, 13 RBIs, and 24 runs scored. On the mound the Chargers have relied heavily on the arm of '24 Coffery who has thrown 36 innings on the spring and punched out 35, picking up 3 wins in that time with a 1.56 ERA and spun 2 complete games. For the Longhorns they 5 regulars hitting over .300 with 2 over .400 while a pair of consistent contributors are also hitting over .400. '25 Kim has put together a great spring sitting at .467 with 7 doubles, 1 triple, 10 RBIs and 16 runs scored while '25 Mogannam has had a good spring sitting at .404 with a double and a home run, driving in 8 and scoring 16. '25 Glanville has been the Longhorns workhorse this spring with 39.2 innings pitched, 32 Ks with 4 wins and sporting a 3.35 ERA with '25 Takamura spinning a stellar season including 21 innings pitched 12 Ks, 3 wins in 7 starts with a 2.00 ERA. '24 Obenour may have the most eye popping stats with 21.2 IP, 37 punchouts, 1.12 ERA, 8 saves and not to mention he is hitting .345 with 6 doubles, 14 RBIs and 13 runs scored.

Game Preview:  Both offenses come into the game featuring the ability to put up numbers on a scoredboard as the Sharks average 7.4 runs while the Padres plate 6.5 runs per game. Carmel's pitching staff has been very difficult to score upon having allowed just 45 runs in 19 games on the spring. For the Padres their lineup features 5 regulars hitting over .300 with 1 regular over .400 in '26 Maxon who is a 2-way standout has produced at the plate to a .446 on the spring, 7 doubles, 2 HRs, 13 RBIs and 19 runs scored while throwing 42 innings on the mound with 60 punchouts, 6 wins and a 2.00 ERA. '24 2-way star Sanchez has hit at a .385 clip with 3 doubles, 10 RBIs and 9 runs scored while sporting a 1.34 ERA over 31.1 IP with 30 Ks. On the Sharks side they ave 5 regulars hitting over .300, 3 of those hitting over .400 and 1 who is sitting over .500 on the spring. '25 Horton has hit at .517 rate this spring including 6 doubles, 2 triples and 3 HRs while driving in 24 and scoring 20. Sitting over .400 on the spring for the Sharks are '24 Ibarra and '24 Cervantes. '24 arms Silva and Leon have been workhorses for the Sharks on the spring with Silva throwing 33.1 innings while Leon adds 27.2 innings. The pair have combined to earn 7 of the Sharks 12 wins on the spring.
