Jake Hagenow, C, Farragut HS, 2017

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound Hagenow shows potential high-level skills that should only continue to improve as he progresses through his high school career.

Behind the plate he flashes solid receiving skills, good blocking ability, and moves well laterally. He shows short arm action and a quick release with 73 mph arm velocity from the crouch.  Hagenow’s pop times range from 1.91-2.03, and he showed consistent accuracy on his throws to second base.

At the plate, Hagenow hits from a spread stance with a short toe tap stride.  He displays good balance with a line drive approach and 73 mph exit velocity off the tee.  He opened eyes at the Fall Top Prospect Games event with a solid batting practice round and went 1-for-4 in game play with a sharply hit single.  In addition, he posted a 4.91 home to first base time.

Hagenow is a class of 2017 prospect with good upside and room to fill out frame.  He should be a cornerstone for the perennial power Farragut baseball program for the next three years and has put himself squarely on the radar for a possible selection to Team Tennessee for the PBR Future Games in August.
