Q and A with 2013 Tiffin Commit: Seth Bryant (Sandusky Perkins)

Seth Bryant, C, Sandusky Perkins, Class of 2013

PBR: Why did you choose Tiffin?

Bryant: I chose Tiffin University because it's a good school that I think I'll fit in well with and I like the recruiting class Coach Wilkins is putting together. I like the environment and the positivity within the program.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Bryant: Heidelberg and Ashland

PBR:  Where did Tiffin first see you compete?
Bryant: I don't really know when Tiffin first saw me compete but I have played at Tiffin’s facility many times. I am sure it was one of those times that I have played there for high school Regionals and or districts for legion.

PBR: Coach Wilkins is putting together quite an impressive recruiting class in just his first year at the helm as the Head Coach of the Dragons.  How does it feel to be a part of his first recruiting class?

Bryant: I am excited and feel very honored to be apart of this recruiting class. With how talented everyone is I am looking forward to playing alongside them and playing for Coach Wilkins.

PBR: Now that you have your college decision out of the way, what are you team and individual goals going into your final season.

Bryant: We have high expectations as a team for this season. We are setting out to be sole SBC champions and have twenty wins on the season. One final goal we have is the ultimate goal of making it to the state championship game and winning. Individual goals for myself are to get All-Ohio Honors and be District POY.

PBR: Coach Wilkins was a former catcher.  How much of a role did that play knowing that you would receive lots of personal instruction from him?

Bryant: Coach Wilkins being a former catcher played a tremendous role in my decision. His resume is outstanding from where he played and from where he has coached. He made a big impression on me when I came up for a visit and he already had me drilling on some little things I needed to work on. My parents and I felt that he has what it takes to get me to the next level as a catcher.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Bryant: There are two people that come to mind that have had the biggest impact on me from a baseball input. They are my brother, Spencer Bryant who pitches at Kent State and my hitting coach Bert Ferris. I have always looked up to what my brother has done and what he has accomplished. I owe a lot of credit to Bert Ferris for the way I play. He has worked me out since I was ten years old and has made me into the player I am today. Without those two in my life I would not be where I am today.

PBR:  Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience?

Bryant: I play for American Legion Post 83. My most exciting memory has to be making it to the legion state tournament the past two years. The atmosphere and experience with the team is just amazing down in Lancaster.

PBR: What were your stats for this spring season at Perkins?

Bryant: I hit around .440
