Q&A with Blake Wynn Arkansas State Commit

By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

Arkansas State has hit the recruiting trail hard in the state. Picking up 5 commitments from 2016 graduates. We were able to talk with 2016 RHP/MIF Blake Wynn about his commitment to the Red Wolves and how the process went down.

PBR: Ultimately, why did you choose Arkansas State University?

Wynn: I honestly just felt like it was a good fit for me as soon as I stepped on campus and I really like coach Raffo.

PBR: Where did they first see you compete?

Wynn: They might have seen me at extra innings after my 10th grade year but the first time I knew of them watching me was during high school this year when we played Pine Bluff.

PBR: When did you take your first official or unofficial visit College of your choice?

Wynn: I took my first visit may 12th.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Wynn: They told me they feel like I hit good enough that I'll have a chance to play as a freshman. Maybe in the outfield or 2nd base.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Wynn: UCA had asked me to tour the campus.

PBR: Who did you play for this summer? Talk about your experience playing for them?

Wynn: I played for the Arkansas Rawlings prospects. I've played for Rawlings since I was 14 and it's great. They definitely got my name out there. I've got to travel all around the south playing baseball and it's been a great experience.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Wynn: I guess I'd have to say my high school coach because he's the one who got Arkansas State to come to Star City and watch me play.

PBR: What were your stats for your High School last spring?

Wynn: BA: .558 17 doubles 1 triple Pitching: 45 strikeouts 2.3 era in 51 2/3 innings 7-2 record
