Prep Baseball Illinois Pitcher of the Week: Aidan Flinn

By: Pete Hamot
Assistant Director, Illinois & Wisconsin

Against one of the stronger teams in the state, LHP Aidan Flinn (Marist, 2025; Illinois commit) fired six no-hit innings against Sandburg, scattering just two walks and punching out 11 along the way. The southpaw was pounding the zone, recording 61 of his 91 pitches for strikes. For his efforts, Flinn has been named this week’s Pitcher of the Week

On the season, Flinn now boasts a 1-0 record with 16 innings pitched, nine hits allowed, only four walks to 21 strikeouts, a 0.00 ERA and a .812 WHIP.

Flinn, an upside 6-foot-5, 190-pound southpaw, is a name our staff is familiar with. We’ve seen him well over the years, and he boasts a fastball in the mid-80s with control to his glove-side, setting up a sharp, downer breaking ball in the mid-70s. There’s a lot to dream on with his frame, and he moves well for his size with the ability to repeat his delivery, which is sometimes hard for the longer-limbed pitchers.

We're thankful for the POTW submissions we received from the coaches across the state. The players who garnered POTW consideration will earn a place within tomorrow's Diamond Notes story, so be on the lookout for that.
