Johnathan Coombs OF / DeMatha Catholic, MD / 2025

The top uncommitted player in the MD/DE 2025 class, Coombs is one of if not the most explosive athletes across the state. A two-sport standout, the physical 5-foot-10, 190-pound outfielder impacts the game in multiple facets with tools that jump off the page. At the dish, it's a balanced, slightly crouched setup with quick hands through the zone and a balanced gap-to-gap approach. The barrel control is present, showcasing strong lower-half involvement and explosive torque in the hips, with a quick first step out of the box that allows the speed to be present on the basepaths. The arm strength is above average with accuracy and range deep into the alleys from centerfield. Power, speed, and explosiveness continue to be at the forefront of Coombs' game, and we look for the success to continue throughout this spring and many years to come.
