Prep Baseball Report Louisiana continues its coverage of the 2015 in-state recruiting classes with Tulane University. The winningest coach in school history, Rick Jones, retired over the summer and was replaced by David Pierce, who had a successful tenure at Sam Houston State. The vast majority of the Green Wave’s 2015 class is made up with out of state players, but two players come from within Louisiana’s borders.

Ross Massey, LHP, Catholic (Baton Rouge)
A 5-foot-11, 175-pound left-hander from Baton Rouge, Massey has been a highly successful high school pitcher. The brother of current Green Wave pitcher, Alex Massey, Ross helped lead Catholic (BR) to a state championship in 2013. A strike thrower that pitches 83-85 mph, running it up to 87 with occasional life. Loose, clean arm action out of a high-3/4 release, little effort with an athletic repeatable delivery. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape at 68-70, decent depth and has shown the ability to throw it for strikes. Flashes a changeup that may develop into a quality third pitch at the next level. Competitive left-hander that tends to find ways to help his team win, if the upward trend of his velocity and stuff continues he could be a nice get for the Green Wave.

Alex Galy, SS, Jesuit HS
A 5-foot-9, 155-pound shortstop from New Orleans, LA. Right-handed hitter with short, compact swing, flat path and a quality, advanced plate approach. Most likely projects as a second baseman, lacks in foot speed, range and athleticism as a shortstop, but has soft hands, enough arm strength, fundamentally sound, and plays the game hard.
