With the 2016 spring season right around the corner, PBR New England is eagerly anticipating bringing the New England states the best high school coverage throughout the region.

Starting February 1st, we began releasing team previews for teams across the state, leading into the Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings.

2016 Connecticut Spring Team Preview: New Britain

Team Name: New Britain High School
Head Coach: Roberto Mercado
Division: LL
2015 Record: 13-9
Conference Record: CCC West 13-9
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 6/3

2016 Team Strengths:

  • Starting pitching
  • Speed
  • Defense

2016 Team Weaknesses:

  • Replacing senior leaders

Top Returning Players:

  • William Homar, P/INF 5-11/170lbs. Sophomore, R/R All Conference as a Frosh. 5-1 record with a 1.28 ERA.
  • Tyler Gibbs, C 5-11/170lbs. Senior R/R. All Conference catcher. Threw out 40% of runners last year.
  • Jakari Pellegrini, P/1B..5-7 175 lbs. Senior L/L, Will be a big part of our success. (Mitchell College recruit)

Top Underclassmen:

  • Alex Silva, P/OF 5-11 175 lbs. R/R...Started as a freshman...(will be a key factor for us this year)
  • WIlliam Homar, P/INF 5-11/170lbs. Sophomore, R/R All Conference as a Frosh. 5-1 record with a 1.28 ERA.
  • Danniel Rivera, SS 5-7-150lbs. R/R Will be the starting varsity SS as a freshman. Excellent hands. He's a baseball player!
