Commitment Q&A With Air Force Signee Easton Miller

Caleb Dameron

EASTON MILLER (UNITED STATES AIR FORCE COMMIT)

Easton Miller RHP / OF / Fossil Ridge, CO / 2024

Miller is ranked 4th overall in the state's senior class, and will likely be a big producer both on the mound and offensively for Fossil Ridge this spring. The fastball on Miller has been ramped up to 93 mph at times with an off-speed pitch he can spin into the mid 2000s (RPMs). The Air Force commit has a strong and athletic frame that projects to get even better as he continues to develop. Miller is also generating even more national attention lately as he is now part of the Prep Baseball national rankings as a right-handed pitcher.

OUR Q&A:

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? What were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at?

Miller: I didn’t really know what to expect out of the process other than a lot of work. I was looking for a program where I could play and grow my game and also had coaches that supported me.

PBR: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?

Miller: At first I wanted to get as far away as a I could from Colorado, but after visiting the Academy and being on base it felt like I wasn’t in Colorado but I was home.

PBR: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Where did the school you committed to first see you play?

Miller: The process really kicked off after the Future Games, after my outing a lot of coaches started to text me wanting to set up calls and visits.

PBR: What do you like most about the program you chose, and what were the key factors in making your decision?

Miller: At Air Force I just loved how close the team was and how invested the coaches were in my success not just in baseball, but in life. I also loved being on the base it was like it’s own little island in the mountains. The views from the field, the effort of the teachers and coaches, and the price were all key factors in my decision as well as an opportunity to serve my country.

PBR: What other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?

Miller: Hawaii, Yale, Columbia, U Seattle, and GCU.

PBR: Who is the best player you have faced in your state? What about them makes for a tough opponent?

Miller: Sean Togher. Since we have grown up together, we know so much about our playing styles and we’ve played against each other enough that we know what the other looks like. Always a battle when we face each other.

PBR: At what point in your career did you realize you were a college-caliber player and became serious about taking your game to the next level?

Miller: Sophomore year. Going to showcases and putting myself up against players across the state and country showed me I could compete at their level and be a next level player.

PBR: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?

Miller: Work as hard as you can. The effort you put in will reward you and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and fail because that is how you learn and get better.

PBR: What is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point?

Miller: Walking around the Future Games and seeing all the high level competition and all the scouts from different colleges just being there watching all these players was an eye opener to what this game has to offer you.

PBR: Preview your high school team's season for us. How do you feel your team will be?

Miller: Pitching and hitting will be our strong spots. With already amazing defense our team has really come together this year in all aspects.
