PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?
OBERBROECKLING: I chose Southeastern CC because I feel like it is the best fit for me athletically and academically, and it is also fairly close to home. I like all the coaches and I am confident in the vision they have for me and my future.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
OBERBROECKLING: Upper Iowa University.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?
OBERBROECKLING: They first saw me at the Junior Showcase at Southeast Polk. After that, we talked on the phone and scheduled a visit soon after.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
OBERBROECKLING: I do feel relieved that I have found the school that’s the best fit for me, and I’m glad that I can finish my high school career playing and not stressing about the future.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
OBERBROECKLING: I liked the campus a lot, and I really like the winning history that Coach Schulte has created with the baseball program.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
OBERBROECKLING: All of my coaches over the years and my parents for investing the time and money for me to travel all over the country to play.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
OBERBROECKLING: I didn’t really know what to expect with the recruiting process, but I learned that I had to take it into my own hands to help get my name out there, along with getting to camps/showcases etc.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
OBERBROECKLING: To help me get bigger and stronger, and to become an overall better baseball player. I will be looking to help make a difference to the team in any way that the coaching staff needs.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
OBERBROECKLING: To this date, I would have to say that our walk-off win against Pleasant Valley in the first round of sub-state is my favorite baseball memory.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
OBERBROECKLING: Without a doubt, Jarred Kelenic.
