The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each TSSAA classification as well as a Power 25.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook:

The Blue Devils went 19-20 last year finishing second in the district and was knocked out by Hendersonville in the Region Semi-finals. They return a solid core of players and several power arms with some speed and athleticism in the lineup. ‘23 CF Wyatt Bowling (Trevecca) will roam the outfield and hit towards the top of the order. ‘23 2B Jackson Lea is another lefty bat that has good bat to ball skills and set the table. On the mound, the Blue Devils will have some solid depth. ‘24 RHP Elijah Shreeve and ‘23 RHP Easton Forsyth threw a lot of meaningful innings last year and look to play key roles. ‘24 RHP Tyler Kingdon is a solid arm that can fit many roles and the x-factor is ‘25 RHP Jordan Jewell, who is a power arm returning from Tommy John surgery. ‘24 SS Brice Njezic will partner with Lea up the middle and ‘25 1B Evan Driver will be another lefty bat to watch. ‘25 C Cade Thorne will take over the majority of the catching duties. The group has the looks to put together another solid season, and the ceiling will just depend on the youth developing into their roles. They’ll have a tall task with consistent Mt. Juliet, but Lebanon has to the potential to find themselves back in the postseason.
