NEW LENOX, IL - Two big innings and three-run home runs by Cam and Dylan Post helped lead No. 16 Lincoln-Way Central to an 8-4 win over No. 23 Marist on Friday afternoon.

The Knights of Lincoln-Way Central (1-1) jumped on Marist early taking a 4-1 lead after the first inning. After three consecutive one out singles, and a run in, sophomore catcher Dylan Post, a Houston commit, drove a ball deep over the wall in right-center field for a three-run home run.

Marist (0-2) chipped away at the lead, scoring two in the third and eventually scored one more in the fourth to tie the game at four. With the bases loaded and one out in the fourth, senior Matt Donahue, a Roosevelt commit, delivered a sacrifice fly scoring Elijah Hynes, a Concordia-Chicago recruit, who led off the inning with a walk.

The Knights squelched the Marist comeback effort in the next half inning and put the game away for good. With one out and two on, senior Cam Post, an Oakland commit, equaled his younger brother Dylan and delivered his own three-run home run. Cam’s home run was a towering shot over the center field fence. Lincoln-Way Central would add one more in the bottom of the fifth and go on to defeat Marist 8-4.

Marist got on the board first in the top of the first inning thanks to a two-out RBI triple by sophomore cleanup hitter Jason Hodges.
