Season Outlook
After reaching the state tournament last season, but falling short of winning it all, the 2017 Pryor Tigers are poised to make another run at the 5A state championship. Pryor will return five starting position player and five arms that threw over 15 innings a piece last year. Included in those numbers are four year starters Taylor Arnold, Christian Campbell, and Gaige Mendivil. Mendivil and Arnold earned first team all-district honors last season, while Campbell, Chandler Olson, and Jamarco Blalock all received honorable mention nods.

On the mound, senior left-hander Mendivil will likely fill the on first spot in the rotation for the Tigers and look to build on his success from a season ago. Joining Mendivil in the rotation could be right-handers Chandler Olson, a senior, and a young and physical Gus Collins, sophomore. Key weapons out of the bullpen will be left-handed senior Jamarco Blalock, along with junior right-hander Brandon Nixon.

Offensively, seniors Tylor Arnold  and Christian Campbell will look to do a bulk of the damage for the Tigers again in 2017. Another big contributor will be junior Drew Miller. Collins may well end up playing a big role as the dish to go along with his impact on the mound.

Defensively, like almost all good clubs, Pryor will be strongest up the middle. Junior Damon Burroughs will provide consistency and reliability at the shortstop position. Mendivil will patrol centerfield with the same athleticism and arm strength that he pitches with, along with providing experience and leadership.  Nick Sizemore, a capable sophomore, will likely catch the majority of the innings for Pryor.
