PBR Kentucky Player of the Week: Lafayette RHP/IF Micah Cowen

cowenOur first installment of PBR Kentucky Player of the Week this season will actually cover the first two weeks of the season for games played from March 29-April 10.

There have been some big performances this young season, but as we looked through the numbers, one player kept standing out. That player? Lafayette HS Senior RHP/IF Micah Cowen, who will play his college baseball at Centre College.

In 8 games (6 Lafayette wins), Cowen put up video game numbers, both at the plate and on the mound.

Offensively, Cowen hit at a .577 clip (15-for-26) with 5 doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs, and 15 RBI’s during the 8 game stretch.

As if the offensive numbers weren’t enough, Cowen was virtually unhittable on the mound. In two starts (both wins), Cowen worked 10 innings allowing just one hit and no runs with a whopping 20 strikeouts. Perhaps even more impressive is that Cowen didn’t walk a batter in his 10 innings of work.

For his outstanding work on the field, Micah Cowen has been selected the first PBR Kentucky Player of the Week for the 2021 season.
