Q and A with Ohio Wesleyan Commit Tyler Flaherty (Dublin Scioto HS)

Tyler Flaherty, INF/OF, Dublin Scioto HS

PBR: Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?

Flaherty: I chose OWU because of the baseball program. I felt it was what I was looking for and the school had the major that I wanted to pursue.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Flaherty: I was also considering Washington and Jefferson and Mount Vernon Nazarene.

PBR: Where did the Coach Mott first see you? How did your relationship develop with Coach Mott?
Flaherty: He first saw me playing summer ball last year. It didn't start this way but now I'm very comfortable just talking about baseball or other things with Coach Mott.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Flaherty: I play for Ohio Elite-Huesman in the summer and I'd say there isn't just one memorable moment, just getting to know and hang out with my teammates has been a great experience.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Flaherty: They hope for me to contribute to the team next year any way possible, whether it be me playing outfield or anything else they want me to do.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help OWU baseball?
Flaherty: My biggest strength as a player is my hitting and I feel I will help OWU by just finding my role on the team and helping any way possible.

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team for the rest of your senior season?
Flaherty: My goal for both my team and I is to play up to our potential, we could be a real threat if we do so.

PBR: What were your stats for last spring season at Dublin Scioto?
Flaherty: I hit .436 with 5 doubles and 2 triples, 21 RBI's, with a .538 OBP

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?
Flaherty: This year I would have to say Jacob Miller from Westerville North.
