Southeast Senior Games - Team Georgia Quick Hits

2022 Southeast Senior Games was one for the ages, as there were many players with high level college potential looking to make a name for themselves and vault their career to new levels. Great competitors and talent on every team made for some exciting innings. Some were dominated by pitching, and some were dominated by electric bats. Here are Team Georgia’s standouts below!

The 6-foot-6, 195-pound RHP Wesley Moore (Homeschool, 2023) started Game 1 for Team Georgia and did not disappoint. Ultra-projectable with fluid and loose actions, there is a ton of upside in Moore. Working with a smooth delivery, Moore has good pace and gets extended down the mound, letting his fastball play up. The fastball sat 84-87, touching 88 early in the outing. He was comfortable throwing two offspeed pitches and got swing and misses on both. The slider plays at 74-78 with downer action while the changeup is a more deception pitch that plays well out of the same slot and action as his fastball.
 



The physical right-hander Logan Bryson (Woodstock, 2023) stands 6-foot-3, 205-pound with room for more. A short strider down the mound, Bryson works downhill from a near over-the-top slot. During his outing Bryson worked up and down the zone with his fastball, sitting 83-86 (up to 89 at PBR 17u National Championship earlier this week). What made him nearly untouchable in his second inning was the feel for his splitter. Bryson set batters with the fastball and then would get them with a heavy sinking splitter at 77-79. There is much more in the tank as Bryson is only a few months removed from an ankle injury.

RHP Kaden Tuten (Benedictine, 2023) filled up the zone and showed some advanced pitch ability. While he did not have overpowering stuff, Tuten consistently hit his spots with a four pitch mix and generated weak ground ball contact. The fastball sat 82-84 with sinking action. He got batters out front with a deceptive 1500rpm 11/5 curveball and swept his slider across the plate at 73-74. He also showed a changeup at 73-77. Standing 6-foot-2, 170-pounds there is still plenty of room in Tuten’s frame to add on.

Everything RHP Chase Moller (Alexander, 2023) throws has life to it. The 6-foot-1, 150-pound right-hander has a long, whip-like arm action that plays out front through a ¾ slot. He used a heavy running fastball, sitting 81-84, to both sides of the plate, creating some very uncomfortable swings. The slider plays well off the fastball with short, tight sweeping action at 69-73. Finally, he kills spin on his changeup, 1400 rpm, and can sink and fade it effectively.

Left-handed hitting 3B Mason Moore (Social Circle, 2023) was one of the more projectable prospects in attendance with size and speed. Standing 6-foot-3, 190-pounds of lean muscle, Moore is a sub 7.00 runner and produced loud pull-side contact during batting practice. Moore loads up and routinely gets into a position to lift and drive the ball with force, registering an average exit velocity of 90.0. The athleticism plays at the hot corner where he made some nice plays in the game and showed more than enough arm strength.

OF Cole Eison (Alexander, 2023) stands out in all facets of the game. This is a high energy player with noticeable raw power in a lean & twitchy 5 foot 9, 160 pounds. He shows consistent barrels in BP with good swing mechanics. The swing is precise, on time, and fast. He ran a 6.90 60 and plays even faster. When Eison adds 10-15 lbs to the frame, it would not be shocking to see him become one of the more impactful bats in college baseball. He turned an 86 around at 99 EV in game, spending the entire swing working his hands above the ball to level out plane. Cole can manipulate the barrel to any pitch in any zone and time up any FB with no fear. The Ice Man melts baseballs. Mechanically he’s well paced, hips touch & go off backside, timed up big C load = powerful momentum in hands. Gains optimal ground in stride, treats front side like lever. Hips work on incline path for big loft! Core very involved thru contact. Dynamite get for any quality program.

RHP Logan Taylor (Oconee, 2023) is a future college SP who can come in and pitch right away for many programs. He’s got a plus delivery, arm action, and he's a tremendous competitor. He has an impressive rhythm and builds up pace gradually from start to finish which makes for considerable ease of effort. Perfect backside bend as he works downhill, creates a steep plane. Land leg works to stiff just after release, and stays balanced on his landing foot, showing ankle mobility. The FB was 85-88 with bore up & run+sink down, confidently hitting both edges low in the zone to take advantage of 1700’s spin. That doesn’t prevent his FB from playing up in the zone, as he gets lots of swing & miss there due to angle and HZB. His CB is a 78-80 tight, vertical 2 planer that he repeats his FB slot extremely well on. The pitch will be a swing & miss weapon due to velo and can even have pretty impressive sweep numbers when he goes off the glove side edge with it. The athleticism, delivery, and arm action lead me to believe he will develop a CH of the same quality.

C Joseph Cable (River Ridge, 2023) 5 foot 11, 180 pounds of explosive athlete with freakish strength and standout passion for the catching position. Soft hands as a receiver who sticks it well, lightning quick footwork for his age and creates good momentum to the bag on throws. It’s a quick exchange with accuracy and he’s one of the more willing blockers I’ve seen in the class with impressive agility. At the plate he gets unreal momentum in the lower half due to hip pace & stretching for max ground gained. Shoulders tilt gradually on decline in separation for smooth incline rotation. Its a direct path w/ all fields juice! He showed the ability to adjust to multiple good arms, had a couple knocks, and more QAB. This is a leader on the field who I can easily see being the captain of his college ball club.

IF/OF Jaylen Hoillette (South Gwinnett, 2023) is a 5 foot 9, 170 pounder who shows consistent effort in everything he does and has a very solid feel for the game in all facets. He
continues to show out in every event! Love the simplicity & compactness of forward move and swing. Head stays still+bat to ball skills & hips get enough rhythm w/ minimal stride. It’s a sweet, effortless swing. Jaylen can play anywhere in IF/OF! Gamer w/ + work ethic! You can tell he takes the game seriously and is locked in, focusing on doing his job and never letting off the gas from 1st pitch to last. This is a relentless competitor.

 

OF Austin Robinson (South Paulding) is a 6 foot 4, 200 pounder with ridiculous leverage due to length and will take off as a player with 10-15 more lbs of strength. This frame can easily end up 225 and he will have top of the scale raw power when he nears that range. The Macon Open legend didn’t hit as many shots today in BP, but it sounds very different off the barrel. Still head due to quiet actions from feet up. Gains tons of ground in the lower half for huge separation and creates lots of upper half torque in load! Light tower pwr! He ran a 6.85, improving his time and showing that he can have freakish tools in the future, and is ridiculously athletic for his size and frame. He loves to compete at the plate and I have no doubts about his makeup and raw talent.

SS Jacari Hardaway (Forest Park, 2023) at 6 foot 3, 170 pounds is exactly what you want, frame and body wise for his position. One of top defenders at SS in class ran a 6.89, and he will undoubtedly get faster as he fills out. 10+ putouts in 2 games, including diving plays to both sides, showing off + instincts & vast range. Soft hands quick exchange & MLB AVG arm. Jacari has a smooth line drive swing with athletic swing mechanics, and all he needs offensively is to clear his hips+lower half better and keep the top hand palm up thru contact more consistently. As soon as he puts on more strength the offensive game will take off.
