Lake Charles Fall ID: Preview Story

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Lake Charles, LA - On Sunday, September 24, 2023, the PBR Louisiana staff will travel to Barbe High School, home of the 12-time Louisiana State Champions, to host the Lake Charles Fall ID.  This event is our first open event of the fall, in Louisiana, and is set to host over 20 players, that includes some familiar names and fresh faces that we're excited to see.

EVENT HISTORY

The last time we were at Barbe High School was just a few months ago, in May, for our Lake Charles Summer Open.  That event helped us identify prospects that had make significant jumps in their development, as well as new prospects, ahead of the 2023 summer baseball season.  Prospects such as 2026 LHP Lucas Lawrence (Catholic BR HS) made a jump in velocity, which earned him an invite to this summer's Future Games.  Another Bears prospect showed well at Barbe High in May in 2025 OF/RHP Davis Emonet (Catholic BR HS).  The uncommitted junior ran a 6.89 and also showed a good arm from the outfield, running it up to 84 mph.

LOOKING AHEAD TO SUNDAY

There's a handful of players headed to Barbe on Sunday who we've seen before and are excited to get an up-to-date look at, as well as a couple of new faces.  Let's check out a couple of those players below.

+2025 OF/3B Gabe Greene (Dunham HS)

Athletic 5'11" 165 lbs. frame.  Greene had a successful sophomore campaign for the Tigers, which earned him a 1st Team All-District selection.  A left-handed hitter, Greene hits from a wider stance and uses a toe-tap load and stride, before delivering a direct path to the ball with a strong top hand and slightly uphill extension with a two-handed finish that produced a max exit velocity of 91 mph, at our Baton Rouge Preseason ID, back in January.  He's also a good overall athlete with a 6.89 laser-timed 60 yard dash and a solid arm from the outfield up to 83 mph.

+ 2025 SS Kash Martin (Westlake HS)

Athletic 5'10" 165 lbs. frame with a strong lower-half.  This will be the first time that we've seen the uncommitted junior shortstop for the Rams at one of our events, and we're excited to get an up close look at him.  He was one of the catalysts of Westlake's offense last season, on route to the Rams advancing all the way to the quarterfinal round of the LHSAA playoffs.  Martin earned a spot on the All-Southwest Louisiana Big Schools team, as an infielder, after finishing his sophomore campaign hitting at a .481 clip with 9 2B, 29 RBI, 40 R, and 25 SB.
