Brandon, Jackson Academy & Northwest Rankin Scout Notes

Ronald Sims
Mississippi Scouting Director

JACKSON, MS - The high school season is starting to heat up while the weather has still been somewhat chilly. The PBR scouting staff has been hard at it to catch multiple teams in their preseason competitions. On Saturday we had the chance to take in games at Brandon High School as they played Northwest Rankin, which was followed by games on Monday with Jackson Academy versus Kosciusko and Northwest Rankin playing host to Warren Central. Today we look at several notable players we had the opportunity to catch in action.

Dalton Rogers OF / LHP / Northwest Rankin, MS / 2019

Southeastern Louisiana signee. Good athlete and it translates to the mound. Still has room to add strength to a 6-foot, 160-pound lanky, athletic frame. Short quick arm stroke with a high-3/4 release. He worked primarily with the fastball at 86-88 mph, running it up to 89 on a couple occasions. Spun a few CB with late bite at 72-74 mph. Rogers did lack control of the zone during his outing on Monday but was able to last three innings, allowing just two hits and two runs while striking out seven.
