On the Rise: 2022 MIF's

Dan Cevette
President, New York

Through our travels across the empire state this year, thousands of players have performed in front of our PBR NY scouting department. "On the Rise" player spotlight article will highlight different players from around the empire state that have impressed our staff. Today we take an inside look at several 2022 MIF's whose stock is rising.

Michael Mancini SS / RHP / Maine-Endwell, NY / 2022

CEVETTE'S QUICK HIT: The former Little League World Series champion has ice in his veins. The athletic MIF plays the game with poise and confidence. Moves well laterally with above average range defensively, the actions are fluid and the arm-slots vary. Plenty of carry on his throws with more velocity projected. In the box, the approach is simple, the barrel path is repeatable, and the contact is consistent. Mancini is just starting to scratch the surface here in NY.

Michael Lombardi SS / RHP / Fox Lane, NY / 2022

CEVETTE'S QUICK HIT: No stranger to the PBR system, Lombardi made his name at the PBR NYS Games this past June, earning himself a spot in the coveted PBR Future Games. He plays with positive energy, an active motor, and constantly looking to improve his game. At the plate the swing is a testament to just that. His approach is loose, short and compact to the ball generating above average barrel speed, slight lift through contact displaying gap-to-gap power. Defensively, his actions are smooth, fast glove to hand release, displays multiple arm-slots, lower half is active towards his target. Lombardi just continues to get better the more we see him.

Brandon Peterson SS / OF / Thomas R Proctor , NY / 2022

CEVETTE'S QUICK HIT: Peterson really impressed our staff at the Fall Top Prospect Games last month. Athletic appearance, runs well (6.9), frame is wiry but strong. At the plate he uses an upright stance, hands go direct to the ball, some slight natural lift from the left-side, above average barrel speed. Defensively he shows an active lower half to the ball, gets around the ball, glove is out in front, hands are quick and twitchy. 78 mph across the diamond and expect to see that number continue to climb. He was also impressive on the bump. Very good looking 2022 from CNY to keep eyes on.

Matthew Procopio SS / 3B / Horseheads, NY / 2022

CEVETTE'S QUICK HIT: Procopio displays a crude skill-set that will continue to improve with more reps and polish. The frame is long and lean, the defensive skills are above average, hands are fluid and the arm-strength will come (77). In the box there's a lot to like. Loose aggressive hands, barrel gets to the ball quick, mostly level through contact with a long finish. As the weight piles on, expect to see all of Procopio's measurables climb. MIF who hails from the southern-tier to keep close eyes on.

Ralphie Pulitano SS / 3B / Archbishop Stepinac , NY / 2022

CEVETTE'S QUICK HIT: Pulitano was impressive at the Fall Top Prospect Games this past month. 5-foot-11, 185-pound build, athletic (7.15 60) actions. In the box he's shows a repeatable barrel path with natural lift from the left side, consistent contact with juice to his pull-side. Defensively, he's well trained and active to the ball, smooth hands with an average arm across the diamond. With attention to his arm-strength this off-season, expect to see big things from the 2022 MIF.
