Q and A with 2013 Tiffin Commit: Kyle Lento (Dublin Jerome HS)

Kyle Lento, INF/C, Dublin Jerome HS, Class of 2013

PBR: Why did you choose Tiffin?

Lento: I chose Tiffin because they fit my academic interests, and I really enjoyed Coach Wilkins, the rest of the staff, and the program in it’s entirety.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Lento: Along with Tiffin, I was considering Ashland, Earlham, DePauw, and Marietta.

PBR:  Where did Tiffin first see you compete?

Lento: The coaching staff was able to get a good look at me at the Top Prospect Games and when I attended a camp there.

PBR: Coach Wilkins is beginning his first year at the helm as the Head Coach of the Dragons.  How does it feel to be a part of his first recruiting class?

Lento: It feels great to be a part of Coach Wilkins’ recruiting class and share in the excitement of his vision.

PBR: What kind of role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Lento: Coach Wilkins recruited me for my athleticism and versatility.  The expectations are for me to play a big role at various infield positions as well as helping satisfy the catching position.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help Tiffin?

Lento:
I actually think my two biggest strengths are my versatility and energy.  I can play middle infield as well as catch. I can hit and run, bunt, and steal a base.  I can contribute and help the team in multiple ways.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?.

Lento:

It is impossible to single one person out.  Both of my parents have given me so much support. My brother is up there too, as he has always been a big help, always telling me how I can improve. Then of course my coaches, Chris Huesman and Kory Winter, who have taught me everything there is to know about baseball.

PBR:  Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience?

Lento: In the summer I play for Ohio Elite, coached by Kory Winter.  The greatest experience of the summer was just being surrounded by a great group of guys and a terrific coaching staff, that all have the same passion for the game as I do.

PBR:  Now that you have made your college decision what are your goals going into your final high school baseball season?

Lento: My goals going into this high schools season is to continue getting better everyday, assisting my teammates in their improvement and making a run as deep as we can into the playoffs.

PBR: What were your stats for this spring season at Dublin Jerome?

Lento: My stats in the spring and the summer combined were: AB:198 H:69 R:49 2B:8 3B:1 RBI:40 SB: 28 AVG: .348 in 77 games played.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Lento:

I have faced many tough pitchers, but I would have to say one of the toughest is Tom Stoffel.
