Andrew Mason, C, Coshocton HS, Class of 2017

PBR: Why did you choose Ohio Dominican?

Mason: I chose ODU because it just felt right, the coaches were genuine and honest from day one.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Mason: I was looking at Ashland, Ohio Wesleyan, and a few others.

PBR: Where did Ohio Dominican first see you? How did your relationship develop with coaching staff?

Mason: They first saw me at the American Legion State tournament in Lancaster and then we started emailing and texting.

PBR: Coach Antonides was hired as the head coach for ODU this summer, how does it feel to be a part of his first recruiting class?

Mason: It is really exciting to know that coach Antonides thought enough of me to be part of his first class, he really wants to do great things at ODU and I can’t wait to get there.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Mason: They have told me that they want me to come in, work hard and be ready to compete for playing time right away.

PBR: What summer team do you play on and how has travel baseball helped your development as a player?

Mason: I played for the Brownlee Lookouts and Coshocton Post 65 legion team. I think summer ball helped me continue to develop my skills through high competition and great coaching.

PBR: What was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Mason: Probably going to the state tournament with post 65, only the 3rd time ever at Coshocton. It was great to play with guys from my area that I normally play against.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Mason: The one guy that has had the biggest impact on me is my dad, he has sacrificed so much of his time to help me get to where I am, he has always pushed me to work hard and to be the best I could be.

PBR: What were your stats for this last season?

Mason: .336 avg    .995 fielding %

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Mason: There are probably too many to mention without leaving someone out but I know Talon Babcock can really throw it.
