Today’s unsigned senior spotlight takes a trip to central Illinois to highlight left handed hitting Brandon Edwards. Edwards is an athletic two-way talent who hails from Bloomington HS.

Edwards brings a versatile game to the Purple Raiders as he possesses the ability to play the outfield, first base, and pitch. He was recently ranked the top corner infielder at our Unsigned Senior Showcase in October.

Edwards is an athletically built 5-foot-9, 180-pound two-way player that shows well in all facets of the game. He displays a long arm action producing carry and accuracy to his targets both from first base and the outfield. He shows extremely soft hands and fluid footwork around the bag and when attacking the baseball in the outfield.

At the dish, Edwards exhibits an aggressive approach, showcasing quick hands producing explosive bat speed. He recorded one of the best exit velocities at the event posting 87 mph from the tee. He hits with a pull side approach showing solid pop to that side.

Edwards also plays well as a left handed pitcher, sitting at 79-81 mph from a long, high ¾ arm slot. He also displays a 65-69 mph changeup and a 69-71 mph curveball to round out his repertoire.

This multi-positional athlete will certainly bring a dynamic impact to the Purple Raiders in 2013.
