HOUSTON, TX — On Saturday, we got our first look for the 2020 season at two of the top 6A teams in the state. Both teams have players scattered all over the PBR Texas rankings in all classes and talent showed up on the field.

Memorial is going to be headed up on the mound this year by two LHP, 2020 LHP Thomas Vincent (No. 43 in 2020 PBR Texas ranking and No. 366 in 2020 PBR overall rankings, committed to Texas A&M) and uncommitted 2023 LHP Jakob Schulz (No. 1 in 2023 PBR Texas rankings and No. 5 in 2023 PBR overall rankings).

Vincent started the game throwing two innings, inducing two groundball double plays and also got one strikeout. Primarily threw his fastball (84-86 MPH) and changeup (71-72 MPH), mixing in a few two-seamers (77-79 MPH) as well. Schulz worked two very clean innings as well for his first appearance at the varsity level. Mixed three pitches very well and a couple of strikeouts, both swinging and looking.

For Bridgeland, they’ve got talent spread all over their roster. Two guys that stood out at the plate for the Bears were uncommitted 2021 infielder Tripp Cromer (No. 117 in 2021 PBR Texas rankings) and uncommitted 2022 SS Conner Weigman (No. 20 in 2022 PBR Texas rankings and No. 132 in 2022 PBR overall rankings). Cromer had a couple of well-hit balls including a double in his first AB while Weigman launched a ball deep over the LCF wall in his third AB of the day.
