Canes National ID (2027-2029) | Blast Motion Leaderboards

Brett Harrison
Nevada Scouting Director

The Canes National ID - West was a two day event used to identify and highlight players within the Canes West program where participants were scouted not only by the Canes West staff as they begin building their local, regional and national rosters for the upcoming Fall and 2023 Summer, but will also be assessed by the Prep Baseball Report staff as we will be starting to build our rosters for the 2023 State Games (Respective States - All High School Classes), 2023 Future Games (Emerson, Georgia - 2025-2026 Classes) and the 2023 West Coast Games (Las Vegas, Nevada - 2024).

Players participated in a Pro-Style Workout on August 20th that featured our state-of-the-art PBR Tech to help analyze and assess the the position player's strengths as well as development areas. Day 2 of the event on August 21st consisted of Live Game Play where pitchers were assessed by our TrackMan system in a "Scout Ball" formatted game.

The Canes Program has established themselves as one of the premier club organizations in the country and the players in attendance of the Canes National ID - West (2027-2029) proved that they will be in good hands for years to come with the talent coming up thought their "farm system".

Next, we highlight the standout in-swing metrics from the Canes National ID (2027-2029) with the Blast Motion Leaderboard.

Canes National ID (2027-2029): BLAST MOTION LEADERS

About Blast Motion:

The Blast Motion sensors measure Swing and Impact Metrics across several categories. Swing metrics measure pre-impact mechanics centered around plane, connection, and rotation while Impact metrics measure pre-impact performance outcomes based on ball contact.

HERE ARE THE TOP METRICS OF THE EVENT:

Top Peak Bat Speed: 77.4 mph |

Top Average Bat Speed: 70.3 mph |

Top Peak Hand Speed: 25.3 mph |

Top Average Hand Speed: 24.7 mph |

On-Plane Efficiency: 91% |

Rotational Acceleration: 26.7 g |

Below will you find the swing & impact metrics from the event in four different categories (Top-10 listed):

PEAK HAND SPEED

Peak Hand Speed is the observed maximum speed as measured on the handle of the bat (measured six inches from the knob of the bat). Peak Hand Speed will occur prior to the moment of impact, very close to the commit time in the swing when the wrists unhinge. For more info: Peak Hand Speed

ON PLANE EFFICIENCY

Measures the percentage of your swing where the bat is on the swing plane. Your vertical bat angle at contact establishes the plane for that swing. Plane is a great indicator for making more consistent contact on the barrel of the bat. For more info: On Plane Efficiency

Ideal Efficiency %: 70% or Higher    Range: 65%-85%

Rank Name State School Class Pos On Plane Eff (avg)

ROTATIONAL ACCELERATION

Measures how quickly your bat accelerates into the swing plane. Rotation is a good indicator of how you build bat speed by sequencing properly. The quicker your rotational acceleration, the more power you will have and the more time you have to adjust to pitch locations. For more info: Rotational Acceleration
