The Outlook: Nelson is currently ranked No. 69 in the Wisconsin Class of 2017. This past spring he was named Wisconsin Valley All-Conference First Team as an outfielder at Wausau West. Not only did he have a solid year on the baseball field but he also on the football field. He is a safety at Wausau West and was also named first team All-Conference defense, totaling 56 tackles and four interceptions. 

Scouting Report: 7/13/16 - 5-foot-9, 185-pound right-handed hitting OF/LHP with a strong frame. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top slot. Accurate throws with carry throwing 85 mph form the outfield. Athletic actions, playing thru the ball with a quick, clean exchange and soft hands. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a short stride and good balance. Gap to gap hitter with a level swing path and fluid rhythm. Showed strength thru contact with 90 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.11. on the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a short leg lift to balance point. Works in line with home plate, falls to third base side on release. Fastball flashed cutting action at 78-80 mph. Curveball has 1-7 shape with tight rotation at 63-66 mph. Changeup showed sinking action at 60-63 mph.
