Tommy Crowl, LHP, Summit Country Day, Class of 2013

PBR: Why did you choose Marietta?

Crowl: I chose Marietta because of the great coaching staff, the ability to play for a national contender, the chance to make an impact my frehsman year, and the possibility of a future in baseball beyond college.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Crowl: John Carroll and UC

PBR: Where did the Marietta coaches first see you?

Crowl: Coach Rosen first saw me at the Top Prospects game at Prasco Park

PBR: Marietta won the Division III National Championship back to back years.  How does it feel know that you will be playing for a national contender the next 4 years?

Crowl: Its awesome.  To be able to start every season on one of the top teams in the country is a feeling that I'm sure is great.  It will be fun to play for such a sound ball club as well.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Crowl: They expect me to hopefully pitch in the starting rotation

PBR:  What team do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this past summer?

Crowl: I played for the Hillstreet Lions the past three summers and will be playing for Cincinnati Baseball Club this year.  The most memorable experience from this past summer was pitching up in Long Island in the Head First showcase with some of my teammates against some of the best recruits in the country.

Crowl: My coaches.  Triffon Callos, Donnie Nagel, and Rich Blandford have had the biggest impact on me as a first baseman, a hitter, and a pitcher.
