Grayslake North 13, No. 18 Prairie Ridge 9
Grayslake North (5-1; 2-0 Fox) sent Prairie Ridge to its second loss of the week, outslugging the Wolves in Grayslake on Wednesday. Junior JP Zalewski was 3-for-3, with two doubles, two runs scored, and four RBI to lead the Knight attack. Senior Carl Russell scored three runs, singled twice and plated a Knight run. Senior Kyle McBrien had three hits, scored two runs and had an RBI for GLN.
Prairie Ridge (7-3; 2-1 Valley), which lost to Evanston 6-3 on Monday, was led by leadoff man senior Bryan Klendworth, who had two hits, including a triple and drove home five Wolves runs. Junior Steven Ladd chipped in with two hits, including a double, scored two runs and had an RBI for PR. The Wolves defense committed seven errors.

Mid-Suburban West

Barrington 11, Hoffman Estates 1
Barrington (4-7; 1-0) played on Wednesday at Kirby Smith Field and the Broncos quickly put an end to the contest, scoring six runs in the first inning. Notre Dame-bound C Ryan Lidge homered, doubled and drove home three runs to lead the Bronco attack. Senior Scott Nelson added two hits, including a double and also had three RBI. Senior LHP Matt Pieterzak fired a seven-hitter at the Hawks with two strikeouts.

Mississippi Valley

Waterloo 11, Civic Memorial 1
Waterloo (9-1; 2-0) romped past Civic Memorial in six innings on Wednesday. The Bulldogs scored five in the first and four in the second to put this one away early. Junior 3B Reid Hoffman was 3-for-3 on the day. Hoffman hammered his first round-tripper of 2013 and drove home two Bulldog runs. Junior 2B Zach Schaab had two hits, including a double and plated a pair of runs for Waterloo. Junior C Jonny Albers chipped in with two hits, including a double. Junior RHP Jeremy Rettig (3-0) fired a six-hitter with six strikeouts.

Highland 8, Troy-Triad 5
Highland (10-2; 2-0) struck for three runs in the top of the seventh to break-up a 5-5 tie and went on to defeat the Knights in Troy on Wednesday. It was the Joey Duncan Show for the Bulldogs. Junior SS Duncan singled, tripled, homered and plated five runs for Highland. It was round-tripper number two for Duncan, who is now hitting .475 with two homers and 18 RBI. Bulldog teammate Jake Harberer is hitting .425 with a team high four dingers and 19 RBI.

Mascoutah 8, Jerseyville 3
Mascoutah (10-5; 2-0) scored three runs in the first inning and coasted to an MVC win on Wednesday. Indian SS Ryan Netemeyer had three hits, including a pair of doubles and drove home two runs. Senior 1B Brendan Dauber chipped in with a perfect 2-for-2 day with a double and plated three Indian runs. Senior Zach Lindsay (3-1) allowed two runs in his five innings to pick up the win.

Nonconference

Andrew 16, Thornwood 1
In a Southwest Conference crossover game on Wednesday, Andrew (7-6) scored eight runs in each of the first two innings to quickly put an end to this game. Mercifully, the game was stopped after three innings. Michigan State-bound 3B Dan Durkin was 3-for-3 with a double and had two RBI to lead the T-Bolts. Senior Colin Mangin was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and drove home a pair for Andrew. Senior LHP Cameron Simak (3-0) went the distance allowing an unearned run and two hits to pick up the
win

Goreville 7, Benton 3
Benton (11-7) fell to Goreville on Wednesday at Benton City Park. The Rangers had only three hits. Junior Nate Higgins, sophomore Gus Gibbs and freshman Cole Richardson had the Ranger hits. Richardson and senior Zach Mocaby had RBI for Benton.

Terre Haute South (IN) 5, Danville 1
Terre Haute South hit the Vikings with three runs in the first inning and never looked back on Wednesday on the South Side of Terre Haute. Danville (4-4) was led by Viking junior Gabe Garza who had the only Viking RBI.
