Prep Baseball Tennessee
Staff

The 2024 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Power 25 and much more.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Gibson County Pioneers took a minor step back in 2023 after an impressive 2022 season that saw the club make a run to the 3A state playoffs. This is a team that is loaded with experience having 7 returning players, whom many have tasted playing in Murfreesboro come late May. The group is led by a strong group of upperclassmen who felt the taste of their season coming to a close sooner than anticipated a year ago. Hitting looks to be the teams strong suit as they return a good portion of their lineup that had six games with over 10+ runs, and another six games with 5+ runs a season ago. Going into their second season moving down to 2A, the Pioneers look to bounce back with improved pitching depth that should play a huge role in getting back to the state playoffs come May. Leading both the offensive and pitching groups will be none other than Bryce Simpson and Cole Lannom who have had their fair share of meaningful baseball experience in the spring and summer circuits.

CIF/P Bryce Simpson

One of the best hitters in the entire area. This is a kid that can really swing it from the left side and looks to capitalize on an impressive junior season.

RHP Cole Lannom

Tall and lean arm from the left side that continues to get better from a ¾ arm slot while sitting mid 80’s with an advanced CH. This is a player that our PBR staff has seen and impressed with the ability to command both his FB and CH and will look to have a big senior season.

UTL Logan White

Just moving to South Gibson from another school. The ‘24 prospect can play multiple positions and will hit in the 2 hole this upcoming season.

1B/LHP Noah Dabbs

Dobb comes in at 6 foot 1 and 215 pounds that has the ability to be really good this year. The ‘25 prospect has +power from the left side of the plate and will hit in our 4 hole this year for the Pioneers.

SS Brayden Fisher

Lean and slim, Fisher comes with one of the best gloves Coach Wickrrsham has ever coached. What he lacks in size he has in heart and has started SS since his freshman year, where he has amazed several coaches on plays that he has made with the glove.
