Joshua Powell, 1B, Elder HS, Class of 2017

PBR: Why did you choose Tiffin?

Powell: When I first got on campus. I just felt comfortable there it was the place I wanted to be.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Powell: I was considering: Alderson Broaddus, Lake Erie College, Slippery Rock, Thomas More, Earlham and Wittenberg.

PBR:  Where did Tiffin first see you compete?

Powell: They first saw me play at a tournament in Columbus.

PBR: Coach Wilkins has brought a lot of excitement to the Dragon baseball program.  What are some of the skills that you will bring to the table Tiffin?

Powell: I will bring my bat to the table. I feel like this is my biggest asset as a player.

PBR: You are considered a two-way prospect, what kind of role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Powell: I think my first year on campus I will have more of a DH role because there's a senior there right now, but after that I should slide over to that first baseman role.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?.

Powell: My dad has had the biggest impact on me as a baseball player. He pushed me to be everything I am today, and put me in the best situations to get exposure.

PBR:  Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience?

Powell: I play for the Cincinnati Astros, and this year we played a 14 inning game at Wright State it wasn't the outcome we wanted, but it was a lot of fun.

PBR: What were your stats for last spring season?

Powell: 81 AB's, 33 Hits, 6 Doubles, 2 Triples, .407 Avg

PBR: Who is the best pitcher that you have ever faced?

Powell: Nick Bennett
