Westerville, OH – After losing to cross town rival Westerville North on Wednesday, Coach Jeff Keifer and his Westerville Central Warhawks got revenge with a 4-1 victory in the rematch.

The visiting Warhawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when both Noah West and Mason Wamsley led off the game with back to singles. Wamsley would later score when starting pitcher Ryan Curtis forced in a run with a bases loaded walk.

In the bottom half of the inning, the Warriors responded with a run of their own to knot the game at 1-1. Lofton Stephens led off the game with a single off of southpaw Nick Buchanan.   Stephens crossed the plate after a single by Josh Kovacs.

During the top of the second, Kyle Keifer reached on an error and scored on a Wamsley single.  After a Austin Kondratick single, Wamsley touched home for the second time of the day.

A 3-1 advantage was all that Buchanan would need for the rest of the game.  The junior, kept his opponents at bay with a tailing fastball that was consistently at 82-83 miles per hour.  Throwing six innings, he gave one earned run on four hits with nine strikeouts.

Curtis also settled down, as he would allow only one more run throughout the game. Ending with a line of seven innings pitched, giving up seven hits with three earned runs.

With a 4-1 lead, sophomore Gavin Lyons would come in to close the game for Westerville Central.  The young righty, was lights out as he lit up the radar with a 86 mph fastball.

Westerville North dropped to 5-11 on the season.  While the Warhawks now stand at 12-3 overall and a 7-1 OCC record.
