Sorrels & Vogelbach Swing the Heavy Lumber

The Ed Carter Memorial tournament brought together six teams for nine games over two days. There were a number of impressive performances over the weekend, but all paled in comparison to what George Washington HS 3B/OF Garrett Vogelbach and RHP/3B Tanner Sorrells accomplished as a tandem.

Vogelbach is a 5-foot-11, 185-pound sophomore that hit three home runs on the weekend. Against Independence on Saturday, Vogelbach went 2-for-3 with two walks and four runs scored. The two hits were both home runs which led to six RBI.

Sorrells is a 6-foot-1, 170-pound junior who also hit three home runs during the course of the tournament, and believe it or not had an even bigger day against Independence. Sorrells went 3-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored. Two of his hits left the yard giving him seven RBI on the day.

Combined the pair of Patriots sluggers drove in 13 of the 19 runs for George Washington in a 19-9 victory.
