Indiana Player of the Week : Week #1

Our Player of the Week honors will be awarded each week of the high school season. High school coaches will be asked to submit their candidate for Player of the Week after the conclusion of each week, please send all submissions to [email protected] for consideration for this award.

Our Week #1 honors goes to '25 UTL Wyatt Pennington of Avon HS. 


Player of the Week

Wyatt Pennington RHP / SS / Avon, IN / 2025

Indiana's week one player of the week honor goes to Junior UTL Wyatt Pennington of Avon High School. Pennington had a big week for the Orioles, going 7 for 16 (.438) with three doubles, two home runs - both of which were grand slams, and collecting 15 RBI's. Pennington helped Avon to a 3-1 record on their spring break trip to Tennessee. 

 

 


Honorable Mentions

Davis Wagner, RHP/OF, Senior, Guerin Catholic

Wagner had a huge start to his senior campaign, helping Guerin Catholic to a 2-0 start. Wagner went 6 for 8 (.750) at the dish, clubbing 3 HR's and collecting 10 RBI. Wagner also earned a win in his start on the mound, striking out 9 in 4 IP without allowing a run. 

Noah Coy, SS, Senior, Center Grove

Coy helped the Trojans to a 4-0 week to start the season. The Notre Dame recruit went 9 for 14 (.642) with 2 doubles, 7 runs scored, 7 RBI, and he stole 5 bases. 

Jamison Lewis, RHP/OF, Senior, Southwestern (Hanover)

The Depauw recruit had a big start to his senior season on the mound, earning two wins in the first week. Lewis worked 12 IP, with a 2.33 ERA, striking out 20. Lewis had a big impact on the offense, as well, going 7 for 13 (.538) with a HR, 4 RBI, and he reached base at a .625 clip.

Cole Decker, OF, Senior, Evansville North

The Indiana recruit got off to a blazing start in his senior season, opening the season with a 6 for 11 (.545) week. Decker was on-base at a .722 clip, scoring ten runs out of the leadoff spot, while stealing seven bases. 

Aiden Reynolds, 3B, Sophomore, Noblesville

A Preseason selection for our 'Super Sophomore' team - Reynolds got off to a hot start to the season, going 8 for 16 (.500) during opening week, with a .600 on-base percentage. The Indiana recruit had three doubles, a triple, and drove in six for Millers.

Michael Slabaugh, C, Senior, Fairfield

Slabaugh had a big week, helping Fairfield to a 3-0 start. The Huntington recruit went 9 for 14 (.642) with a double, three triples, 7 RBI, and 5 runs scored. 

Trevor Corbett, INF, Junior, Noblesville

Corbett is already swinging a hot stick early in his junior campaign, going 8 for 19 (.421) with a double, a triple, a home run (grand slam), and he scored nine runs and drove in eight. 

Deagan Repp, OF, Junior, Fishers

Repp had a solid opening week for Fishers, shining in their spring break trip to Tennessee. The junior outfielder went 6 for 12 (.500) with a double, 6 RBI, and 6 stolen bases.

Zach Losito, SS/RHP, Junior, Decatur Central

Losito started his junior campaing with a 7 for 10 (.700) week, with 4 of his hits going for extra bases, and he drove in 6 runs. Losito reached base at a .786 clip, and also stole 5 bases. Losito also added a win on the mound this week for Decatur Central. 

Ty Frakes, SS, Junior, Pendleton Heights

Frakes started his junior season by hitting .563 in the opening week of the season. The junior shortstop scored five runs, walked five times, drove in five, and stole five bases. 

Carson Bush, 3B, Junior, Center Grove

Bush was outstanding in the opening week of the season, taking on a run-producers' role in the middle of the Center Grove lineup. Bush went 7 for 10 (.700) on the week, collecting three doubles, five RBI, and scoring six runs. 

Troy Barrett, LHP, Sophomore, Chesterton

Barrett picked up a win in his first varsity start, throwing a complete game, two-hit shutout en route to a 5-0 win over Boone Grove. Barrett collected 11 strikeouts in his outing. 

Bryce Haney, LHP, Junior, Triton Central

Haney had a quality start for Triton Central during the opening week of the season, collecting 11 strikeouts in 5 IP, allowing just 1 run, en route to a win. 

Carson Williams, DH, Senior, Columbus East

Williams got off to a hot start for the Olympians, going 4 for 8 (.500) with three home runs, a double, and seven RBIs.

Eli Loichinger, RHP/UTL, Senior, Batesville

The senior right-hander helped Batesville to an opening day win, throwing a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts. The Marian recruit was one HBP away from a perfect game, and also went 2 for 3 at the dish with a double and two RBIs. 

Simon Gaines, SS, Senior, Mitchell

Gaines hit for the cycle during a game in opening week, and went on to go 6 for 9 (.667) on the week with three doubles, a triple, and a home run. Gaines scored seven runs, and also collected seven RBIs. 

Garrett Schmidt, OF, Junior, Borden

A 2A Preseason All-State selection, Schmidt started the season with by hitting .636 on the week, driving in 5 runs, and clubbing a home run. 

Jaron Clutter, SS, Sophomore, Princeton

Clutter began his sophomore campaign with an 8 for 10 (.800) week, collecting two doubles, three RBIs, and three stolen bases. Clutter also earned a win on the mound for Princeton this week. 

Joe Kinney, RHP/3B, Senior, New Prairie

Kinney earned two wins for New Prairie, working 10 IP without allowing a run, striking out 12. On the offensive side of the ball, Kinney hit two doubles and provided a walk-off hit in a win over Greenwood. 

Owen Stone, RHP, Sophomore, Lawrence North

Stone threw a gem in his first start of the season, throwing a complete game, one-hitter in an upset win against 4A #4 Homestead. Stone struck out 6, and allowed just three baserunners throughout the game.
